Rush Holt endorsed Governor Jon Corzine’s toll hike plan yesterday, but has still been unable to decide who he wants as the next President of the United States.  Holt is the only New Jersey House Democrat not to endorse a candidate in today’s presidential primary.

Pallone convinced Clinton will win the nomination

In the Statehouse today for the goU.S. Rep. Frank PalloneU.S. Rep. Frank Pallonevernor’s state of the state address, three Democratic congressman, two in the Sen. Hillary Clinton camp and one undecided, had three different takes on today’s developing New Hampshire primary.

U.S. Rep Frank Pallone said he believes Clinton is firmly in the fight despite her loss in Iowa and likely loss in New Hampshire.

"New Hampshire is a small state," said Pallone. "The real battle is on Feb. 5th (when New Jersey and 21 other states are holding primaries), and I believe she’s going to win the nomination. She will continue to compete before then in Nevada and South Carolina."

U.S. Rep. Albio Sires isn’t so sure.

It's been 126 years since Dems won Saxton seat; 54 for Ferguson seat

The two New Jersey House seats most clearly in play next year are the two that have been held by the Republicans for the longest period of time:  Democrats have not won the seat now held by Jim Saxton for 126 years, and Mike Ferguson’s district has not elected a Democrat since 1954.

Five of seven Democratic Congressmen would be interested in succeeding Lautenberg

They may not be the top fundraisers in the state, but don’t count Bill Pascrell or Rush Holt out of seeking Frank Lautenberg’s Senate seat if it ever opens up.

Both Congressmen were careful about the wording of their ambitions, stressing that they fully support Frank Lautenberg and that the idea of an open Senate seat is purely hypothetical. But neither would rule out seeking the seat if it does open up. Read More >
