Perot to visit N.J.

Former presidential candidate Ross Perot address a group of veterans and scouts in Wildwood on May 18.  He will speak at a non-political "Love America" rally chaired by Norris Clark, who was his national campaign spokesman in 1996 and was Director of Business Development at Perot Systems.  Clark is the Republican candidate for State Assembly in the first district.

GOP still mulling District 1 Assembly candidates

Cape May County Freeholder Leonard Desiderio still remains a top choice among Republicans to run for the State Assembly in the first district next year, against Democratic incumbents Jefferson Van Drew and Nelson Albano. One prospective candidate receiving strong buzz for the second GOP nod is Norris Clark, a former national spokesman for Ross Perot's presidential campaign and the cousin of former Casino Reinvestment Development Authority Executive Director Curtis Bashaw. Clark and his wife live in Cape May County, where he is a prominent businessman and civic leader.

The GOP ticket will be headed by incumbent State Senator Nicholas Asselta of Cumberland County, which means Cape May Republicans are likely to name both Assembly candidates.
