Thieves Made Off With More Than 40 Cell Phones Donated to Overseas Troops; Community Rallied to Replace Lost Donations

(TRENTON) - Assemblyman Reed Gusciora today issued a multimedia package thanking constituents in his district for their generosity following a December 19 break-in at his district office that resulted in the theft of more than 40 cell phones donated to the "Cell Phones for Soldiers" program.

Upon hearing of the burglary, residents from around the district rallied to donate nearly 150 cell phones and calling cards to the program, more than tripling the original contribution amount.

Nonpartisan Study Finds Bill Also Would Protect Inheritance Rights and Hunting Guns

(TRENTON) – Assemblyman Reed Gusciora today announced a new analysis has confirmed his legislation to ban .50-caliber assault rifles in New Jersey would enhance the rights of battlefield re-enactors while protecting heirs and hunters.

The bill (A-2116) would make New Jersey the second state to ban the sale of .50-caliber rifles - fearsome battlefield-style weapons available for purchase at New Jersey gun shops by anyone who possesses proper identification and passes a simple background check.

(TRENTON) – Legislation Assemblywoman Pamela R. Lampitt and Assemblyman Reed Gusciora sponsored to require state reports to be filed electronically instead of being printed and manually distributed is closer to law.

The bill recently passed the Assembly and heads to the Senate for consideration.

“It’s astonishing that in the age of electronic communications the state remains mired in a paper-and-ink mentality,” said Lampitt (D-Camden).

Assemblyman's Measure Would Allow NJ Motorists Unprecedented Choice in Car Repair

(TRENTON) - Assemblyman Reed Gusciora was joined today by representatives from several good government and consumer advocacy groups at a press conference in support of his legislation that would provide New Jersey drivers with unprecedented choice in the automotive repair marketplace.

The "Motor Vehicle Owners' Right to Repair Act" (A-803) would give motorists the ability to obtain all information necessary to provide for the diagnosis, service and repair of their vehicles - eliminating the need for a trip to a dealership for routine maintenance and repairs.

Some Republicans think former State Sen. Richard LaRossa is preparing for another political comeback bid, this time as a candidate for State Assembly in the 15th district against Democratic incumbents Bonnie Watson Coleman and Reed Gusciora.  This week, LaRossa announced that he was filing an ethics complaint against Gusciora for sending out a political press release attacking GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin from his legislative office.  He also came to the aid of Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose after a Democratic staffer questioned her intellectual capacity.
