(TRENTON) - Assemblyman Reed Gusciora today issued a multimedia package thanking constituents in his district for their generosity following a December 19 break-in at his district office that resulted in the theft of more than 40 cell phones donated to the "Cell Phones for Soldiers" program.

Upon hearing of the burglary, residents from around the district rallied to donate nearly 150 cell phones and calling cards to the program, more than tripling the original contribution amount.

The bill (A-2116) would make New Jersey the second state to ban the sale of .50-caliber rifles - fearsome battlefield-style weapons available for purchase at New Jersey gun shops by anyone who possesses proper identification and passes a simple background check.

A comeback for LaRossa?

Some Republicans think former State Sen. Richard LaRossa is preparing for another political comeback bid, this time as a candidate for State Assembly in the 15th district against Democratic incumbents Bonnie Watson Coleman and Reed Gusciora.  This week, LaRossa announced that he was filing an ethics complaint against Gusciora for sending out a political press release attacking GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin from his legislative office.  He also came to the aid of Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose after a Democratic staffer questioned her intellectual capacity.
