Pindell puts Saxton, Ferguson seats in Dem column

Democrats will pick up congressional seats of retiring Reps. Jim Saxton and Mike Ferguson as part of a national trend that will net them seven U.S. Senate seats and sixteen House seats national, according to James Pindell, the editor of Politicker.com's Pindell Report, which provides independent analysis of federal and state races.

Pindell says that Democrat Frank Lautenberg will win re-election to the U.S. Senate and that Barack Obama will carry New Jersey and win its fifteen electoral votes.

"In two Republican-leaning districts, Democrats John Adler and Linda Stender are going to Congress," said Pindell. "Democrats have momentum and they're winning just about all of the marginal races."

The Pindell Report has the Senate at 58-41, and the House at 252-180.  The Senate races in Alaska, and House races in Florida, New Mexico and Kansas, remain toss-ups.

"The economy, Barack Obama, and George W. Bush combine to push Senate and House races that were toss-ups last week into the Democratic column," said Pindell.   "While the Democrats will control the White House and both houses of Congress, they won't get the 60 Senate seats they need for a filibuster-proof majority." Adler To Myers: End Silence On Federal Corruption Probe Of Republican Burlco Officials

Mt. Laurel, NJ – Democratic congressional candidate John Adler challenged his Republican rival, Chris Myers, to end his yearlong silence on the federal corruption investigation into activities involving the Republican-run Burlington County  Bridge Commission. Adler said that Myers' attempt to sweep the widespread corruption in his own backyard under the rug showed an astonishing lack of commitment to clean government and ethics reforms. Myers is also helping keep $2.7 million of stolen money from being returned to the taxpayers by refusing to demand reimbursement by those involved in the scandal, Adler said.

While Voters Seek Change and Leadership, Myers Resorts to Cheap Shots, Ignores Corruption in His Own Backyard

For more than a year, Chris Myers has turned a blind eye to wholesale corruption at the Burlington County Bridge Commission, which is run by his political allies. The scandal cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars, yet Myers never said a word. Now he once again is showing his low regard for the taxpayers by dropping any pretense that he is concerned with the financial crisis that threatens the economic security of all Americans – instead inexplicably deciding to criticize public safety improvements and other worthy projects benefiting the taxpayers.

Adler's "major" endorsement a bit of an overstatement

John Adler's congressional campaign raised expectations on Friday when they said they would "announce a major endorsement today.  There was some buzz that Adler was rolling out Diane Allen, a popular Republican State Senator from Burlington County who is feuding with local GOP leaders and has not formally endorsed Republican Christopher Myers.  But in the end, the Adler hype was disappointing: their major endoremnt is from Outdoor Alliance, an environment group that lacks enough members in the third district to make their support substantially more meaningful than the multitude of other groups takin sides in the contest for Jim Saxton's seat.
