(VINELAND, July 31) -- First District Senator Nick Asselta -- responding to his increasingly desperate opponent’s increasingly desperate attacks -- today suggested that Jeff Van Drew should read the entire bill passed in 1999 by a combined margin of 105-8 before he muddies himself further with continued misfires.

(VINELAND, July 30) – First District Senator Nick Asselta – responding to yet another deliberately misleading statement by Democrat Jeff Van Drew – today dismissed Van Drew’s latest ridiculous charges, and suggested once again that Van Drew come clean and own up to his vote to give the Governor a blank check to pay engineering, legal, and financial consultants in preparation for the sale, lease, or monetization of New Jersey’s toll roads.

Stung by Sen. Nicholas Asselta's depiction of him as a defender of privatizing New Jersey's toll roads, Assemblyman Jeff Van Drew fought back today with what he described as "shocking information" that Asselta once voted to lease public toll roads.

But Van Drew’s response suggests that he hadn't done his homework, according to Asselta.

In one of the most competitive Senate contests in the state, CWA Local 1034 President Carla Katz is sticking with the Republican incumbent, Nicholas Asselta, the New Jersey AFL-CIO endorsed candidate. Katz attended a fundraiser for Asselta and GOP Assembly candidates Norris Clark and Michael Donohue yesterday, where she found an unlikely defender: conservative State Senator James "Sonny" McCullough. McCullough told the crowd that the Republican leadership is being too hard on Katz in their pursuit of private e-mails between her and Governor Jon Corzine, and that he was personally grateful for her loyalty to Asselta, who faces Democratic Assemblyman Jeff Van Drew in the fall.

(VINELAND, July 18) –- First District Senator Nick Asselta and his Republican Assembly running mates Norris Clark and Michael Donohue -– responding to a denial by the Governor’s spokesman that a proposal submitted by a financial services firm in February has informed the Administration’s approach to selling, leasing, or “monetizing” New Jersey’s toll roads -– today called on the Governor to reveal whether or not the firm in question was Goldman Sachs, and to reveal what, if any, counsel he or members of his Administration have sought or received from Goldman Sachs as he considers his plans to sell, lease, or “monetize” the New Jersey Turnpike, the Garden State Parkway, and the Atlantic City Expressway.
