ALBANO/MILAM BILL TO PROMOTE NEW JERSEY WINERIES NOW LAW

(TRENTON) – Legislation Assemblymen Nelson Albano and Matt Milam sponsored to promote New Jersey wineries by declaring November as “New Jersey Wine Month” was signed into law today.

New Jersey is the fifth largest producer of wine in the country, and the winemaking industry contributes approximately $1.3 million each year to New Jersey’s economy. Wine produced in the state continues to be recognized and win awards both nationally and internationally.

“New Jersey’s wines, wineries, and vineyards are an important part of the state’s agricultural diversity, tourism and economy,” Albano said. “Other states have identified one month every year as the state’s ‘Wine Month,’ successfully increasing awareness of state-produced wines and promoting visits to local wineries and vineyards. New Jersey should do nothing less, too.”

“This site has long plagued not only Vineland, but the entire region and our precious natural resources,” Milam said. “We’ve advocated for a faster cleanup and are pleased to see it’s now going to happen. This site has been on the EPA’s national priorities list since 1984, so this is long overdue and will cut two years off the Blackwater Branch cleanup. That’s good news for the health and welfare of the entire region.”

About 40,000 Penn Medicine patients are covered by Horizon. Penn Health includes the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Hospital, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, satellite facilities, nursing programs and provider networks.
