Mark Semeraro

Wayne Township Attorney Mark Semeraro was arrested for allegedly violating a restraining order and will resign his township job and from his post as Passaic County Republican counsel, The Record reports.

Police did not give the newspaper details about Semeraro’s charge.  

Semeraro, a long time insider and ally of Assemblyman and Passaic County Republican Chairman Scott Rumana (R-Wayne) was hired as Wayne’s part-time township seven year ago – during Rumana’s first term as mayor -- and earns $96,728 a year.  He is a partner at the law firm McManimon & Scotland. 

Semeraro’s employment and campaign involvement came under attack by a rival Republican group during Rumana's simultaneous Assembly reelection primary campaign and reelection as Passaic County Republican chairman.

“Mr. Rumana should demand that his top aide do what Mr. Inglessino did and force Mr. Semeraro to drop out of the pension system immediately,”
