Stepping into a controversy featuring one former and one current Governor feuding over arts funding, a man who wants to be the next Governor is taking a different approach -- get the government out of the arts business altogether.

“The last few weeks have made clear that Chris Christie has plenty of ethics problems of his own that he should deal with before coming up with new legislation that prevents some of his own supporters and good conservatives from running for office.”

Republican Gubernatorial candidate Steve Lonegan today backed up calls for corporate tax credits for scholarships to students in failing urban districts.

His comments came on the heels of a Trenton news conference held by urban clergy and civic leaders calling for passage of legislation that would allow students to “break free of the public school monopoly” in Lonegan’s words.

Today the Lonegan for Governor campaign has decided to redirect our efforts away from the process to secure county committee “lines” – and towards linking together a network of Republican grassroots activists throughout New Jersey. Group Says Too-High Rating Begs Another Fannie-Freddie Meltdown

WASHINGTON – Americans for Prosperity-New Jersey Director Steve Lonegan will lead taxpayers in a protest against the irresponsible, too-high rating of “junk” New Jersey state bonds by Moody’s Investment Service. The event will be held in front of Moody’s on Greenwich Street in downtown Manhattan tomorrow, July 31 at 1:00 p.m. Lonegan will be joined by a busload of New Jersey taxpayers and a huge, 16-foot-tall ATM machine designed to illustrate that politicians can’t treat taxpayers like an instant cash machine.
