DeMicco and Weitzner are mojoless

Not a great cycle for Message & Media hotshots Steve DeMicco and Brad Lawrence: their two State Senate candidates got beaten – Ellen Karcher received 46% in District 12, and Seema Singh took just 37% in the fourteenth.

And now DeMicco and Lawrence have a bigger problem: their mail in the 37th district for Democrats Loretta Weinberg, Gordon Johnson and Valerie Huttle – the reformer pieces – seems to have really annoyed Bergen County Democratic Chairman Joseph Ferriero. Does this but DeMicco and Lawrence in a war with the powerful Ferriero?

Unrealistic scenario, just for fun

If politics in Washington, D.C. was more like New Jersey, then U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman would be the next U.S. Attorney General. George W. Bush would get credit for appointing an easily-confirmed Democrat to replace the embattled Alberto Gonzales, and Connecticut Governor Jodi Rell would appoint a Republican to fill Lieberman's seat. That would give the GOP majority control of the United States Senate -- and possibly give Rell's political consultant, Larry Weitzner, another statewide race in 2008, besides Anne Evans Estabrook.

Stender getting ready for round two

Democrats in the 7th Congressional District aren’t thinking twice about fielding Assemblywoman Linda Stender to run for the seat again in 2008, despite the fact that she already lost once.

That’s because Linda Stender did better than anyone expected last November, coming within one point – just about 3,200 votes -- of unseating incumbent Republican U.S. Rep Mike Ferguson in a district that hasn’t elected a Democratic congressman or woman since 1954.
