CHRISTIE CONTRADICTS THE FACTS . . . AGAIN

TRENTON- Democratic State Chairman Joseph Cryan today called into question statements made by Conservative Right Wing gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie during his testimony today before Congress.

“Christie cannot keep his facts straight,” said Cryan.  “In his testimony he said things that directly contradicted his previous statements and e-mails.  From the time he sat down until the time he abruptly left in the middle of questioning, Christie continues to be confused by the facts.”

ASSEMBLY DEMOCRATIC BUDGET COMMITTEE MEMBERS ON PASSAGE OF THE FY 2010 BUDGET

(TRENTON) - The Democratic members of the Assembly Budget Committee today issued a multimedia package on the Assembly passage of New Jersey's annual appropriations act for fiscal year 2010.

The $28.9 billion fiscal year 2010 budget (A-4100) is about $4 billion less than last year - representing the largest spending cut in state history - and would:

  • Provide property tax rebates to households earning less than $75,000 per year;
  • Retain the property tax deduction for households earning up to $250,000 per year;
  • Devote more than half of state spending to property tax relief;
  • Cap tuition increases at 3 percent and increase direct college student assistance by about 10 percent; and
  • Increase school aid by $270 million.

DAY 6: CHRISTIE'S VALUES CLOCK KEEPS TICKING

Day 6: Christie’s Values Clock Keeps Ticking

“Voters deserve to know about his out-of-the-mainstream right wing conservative values and efforts to curtail a woman’s right to choose.”

TRENTON – Democratic State Chairman Joseph Cryan today continued his call for Right Wing Conservative Republican gubernatorial nominee Chris Christie to get the “technical” glitches worked out from his values. The AP reported on June 18 that the Christie for Governor website took down the “Shared Values” section that declared Christie’s clearly defined positions against a woman’s right to choose and gay marriage for “technical reasons”.  The Democratic State Committee’s “Christie’s Values Clock”—now in its sixth day on the website—keeps track of how long it will take for the Conservative standard bearer to re-discover his values.

In the 1st, Democrats emphasize independence

Girding for what is expected to be the toughest legislative contest in the state, the 1st district Democrats are clear on what their early strategy will be: stand together and emphasize their independence, most of all from Gov. Jon Corzine.

State Sen. Jeff Van Drew (D-Dennis), a dentist with an independent streak and long electoral coattails, will campaign as if he is on the ballot this year with assembly candidates Nelson Albano (D-Vineland) and Matthew Milam (D-Vineland).  The three plan to emphasize their status as a relatively undifferentiated team, and will almost certainly highlight their differences with the Governor, whose upside down statewide approval ratings are likely even lower here in the state's southernmost tip.

The approach is nothing new.  In the 2007 election, the three loudly opposed Corzine's plan to monetize the state's toll roads.  Since turning the district all-Democrat after that race, the delegation has made an effort to work as a single entity, sharing all three of the district's legislative offices and making joint legislative efforts.  Van Drew noted that he doesn't even have a legislative business card with just his name on it.

Christie: Corzine uses 'billions in one-shot gimmicks'

Republican gubernatorial candidate Christopher Christie says it's clear that Gov. Jon Corzine "has no control over the budget or our government."

"He promised four years ago to change the way Trenton budgeted, but this budget uses billions in one-shot gimmicks, including this latest tax amnesty windfall, that will have to be made up in future budgets," Christie said in a statement released today.  "This kind of haphazard governing by chance just doesn't cut it when we're facing 8.8% unemployment, skyrocketing property taxes and real pain for all middle class New Jerseyans."

Assemblyman Joseph Cryan (D-Union), the Democratic State Chairman, criticized Christie's legislative allies from voting against the tax amnesty bill which he says "yielded hundreds of millions of dollars" in new revenues.
