CRYAN NAMES NEW COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

FOR NEW JERSEY DEMOCRATIC STATE COMMITTEE

 
     (TRENTON) – New Jersey Democratic State Committee (NJDSC) Chairman Joseph Cryan today announced Alescia Marie Teel as the state party’s new Communications Director.
     “Alescia brings excellent credentials and a wide range of experience to the New Jersey Democratic State Committee,” said Cryan. “We are delighted to have her on board during these exciting times.  She will be a great addition to our Democratic team’s efforts to re-elect Governor Corzine and Democrats across the state this fall.”

Responding to pressure from Governor Corzine and other Democratic leaders, the Democratic State Committee (DSC) will give the equivalent amount of money it received from Solomon Dwek earlier this decade to charity, reversing its earlier decision. 

“I heard the Governor and other Democratic leaders loud and clear and we’re going to return it,” said Democratic State Chairman Joseph Cryan (D-Union), who’s also an assemblyman. 

Dwek is a former real estate developer who turned state’s witness after being charged with bank fraud in 2006. He was the government’s witness who wore a wire to take down alleged money launderers and, working under an assumed name, dozens of allegedly corrupt political figures.

Democrats Kickoff Opening of Campaign Offices Across New Jersey

      Democratic State Committee Chairman Joseph Cryan announced that tomorrow the New Jersey Democratic coordinated campaign, Victory 09, will be opening campaign field offices across the state.

      The Official Kickoff Parties for the Democratic Party Statewide Campaign will be held tomorrow, Noon, Saturday, July 25 at locations across the state.

After lieutenant governor prospect Randal Pinkett held a news conference to say he remains interested in the post, Gov. Corzine’s campaign offered kind words about him.  

“Throughout this process, we discovered what everyone already knew: Randal Pinkett is one of the state’s most accomplished, and most talented, young men,” said Corzine Communications Director Sean Darcy.  “A Rhodes Scholar, successful businessman, and all-around class act, he has been one of the people under consideration for the Lieutenant Governor position from the very beginning.  Randal Pinkett brings unique talent and qualifications to the conversation for Lieutenant Governor.  We are fortunate to have such a depth of diversity and talent in the New Jersey Democratic Party.”

Pinkett, a technology consultant and former Rhodes Scholar whose multiple advanced degrees have been overshadowed by his status as the winner of Season 4 of “The Apprentice,” was briefly considered the frontrunner for the number two spot on the ballot.  In the aftermath of negative newspaper editorials and discontent among Corzine’s supporters, however, Pinkett’s political stock has dropped precipitously. 

CRYAN:  CHRISTIE CONTRADICTIONS MISLEAD VOTERS

      New Jersey Democratic Chairman Joseph P. Cryan today issued the following statement in response to Right Wing Conservative Gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie’s latest contradiction in regards to Judge Sonia Sotomayor:

HOLMDEL -- Democratic State Chairman Joseph Cryan finds it hard to believe that Republican gubernatorial nominee Chris Christie’s web video welcoming President Obama to the Garden State will do anything to blunt a hoped-for association between troubled incumbent Democrat Jon Corzine and the popular President.

“I think for a guy who’s against everything Barack Obama is for, I think the idea that he’d try to welcome him in any way speaks for itself,” said Cryan just after passing through metal detectors with his organization’s executive director, Rob Angelo.  

Christie also released a web video today containing snippets of New Jerseyans who said that they voted for Obama in November but plan to vote for Christie.

TRENTON--Just one day after Republican Right Wing Conservative gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie stood by silently as RNC Chairman Michael Steele called President Obama's economic recovery plans "nonsense," New Jersey Democratic State Committee Chairman Joseph Cryan blasted Christie for his refusal to accept $2 billion in property tax relief for New Jersey from President Obama's economic recovery plan. Cryan said Christie's opposition to the federal stimulus funds shows that he is more interested in joining with his fellow right-wing Republicans to obstruct President Obama's agenda than working toward common sense solutions for New Jersey.

TRENTON – Democratic State Chairman Joseph Cryan today continued his call for Right Wing Conservative Republican gubernatorial nominee Chris Christie to get the “technical” glitches worked out from his values. The AP reported on June 18 that the Christie for Governor website took down the “Shared Values” section that declared Christie’s clearly defined positions against a woman’s right to choose and gay marriage for “technical reasons”.  The Democratic State Committee’s “Christie’s Values Clock”—now in its 25th day on the website—keeps track of how long it will take for the Conservative standard bearer to re-discover his values.

TRENTON – Democratic State Chairman Joseph Cryan today denounced Right Wing Conservative gubernatorial nominee Chris Christie for his indefensible remarks that he would not consider President Obama’s selection to the U.S. Supreme Court, Judge Sonia Sotomayor, because she is “not my kind of judge.” Judge Sotomayor’s confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee are set to begin Monday.
