McCULLOUGH, AMODEO AND POLISTINA OUTRAGED BY WHALEN’S APPARENT ABUSE OF STATE RESOURCES FOR POLITICAL PURPOSES 

(Atlantic County, NJ) Republican 2nd District legislative candidates Senator Sonny McCullough, Vince Polistina and John Amodeo today expressed their outrage that Assemblyman Jim Whalen apparently used his district office as a clearinghouse for responses to campaign mail pieces featuring his non-incumbent running-mates.

On information supplied by a mole in the District 8 office of former Republican Assemblyman Francis Bodine, Assembly Minority Leader Alex DeCroce today filed Assembly Minority Leader Alex DeCroceethics complaints against Democrats running in the 1st, 2nd and 8th districts, charging them with failing to keep their political campaigns from spilling over into their district offices.

According to DeCroce, the legislative campaigns of senate candidates Assemblyman Jim Whelan, Assemblyman Jeff Van Drew and Bodine "used state resources to further their campaign activities or the campaign activities of their running mates," a misuse of public resources that violates conflicts of interest law and the legislative code of ethics and rules, DeCroce said.

The minority leader filed the complaint with Judge Herbert S. Friend, vice chair/acting chair of the state Joint Committee on Ethics, after a Bodine 8th District office staffer told Republicans that he collected tax rebate mail pieces at Bodine’s district office, which he then gave to Bodine’s campaign spokesman Peter Clerkin for use in the candidate’s state Senate race.

Atlantic County Republican chairman Keith A. Davis today called on Assemblyman Jim Whelan, Democrat Senate candidate, “to explain why he accepted a $1,500 campaign contribution from Terry Jacobs, the individual who paid bribes to public officials and went to prison on drug distribution charges.”

           (Atlantic County, NJ) Edward Kline, campaign manager for McCullough-Polistina-Amodeo legislative team, today described Assemblyman Jim Whelan’s call for the resignation of Atlantic City Mayor Bob Levy as “a sad, shameful and sickening example of backstabbing for political advantage.”

Atlantic County Republican chairman Keith A. Davis charged today that a recent campaign flyer sent by Assemblyman Jim Whelan to employees of the casino industry “is an astounding exercise in deceit and deception” for its claim that he has done more for the industry than anyone else.

           (Atlantic County, NJ) -Vince Polistina, Republican candidate for Assembly from Atlantic County, today called on his opponent to pro rate his salary as an Assistant commissioner of Labor and return that portion he received when the state forced the shutdown of the casino industry and threw some 45,000 people out of work last year.
