Mike Premo

Mike Premo, named to the PoliticsNJ.com Best Operatives List in 2005, will serve as Campaign Manager for Linda Stender's campaign for Congress against Republican Michael Ferguson. Premo ran the challenger campaigns of Democrats Matt Doherty and Jim Reilly for State Assembly in the 11th district last year. Stender, a three-term Assemblywoman and former Union County Freeholder and Mayor of Fanwood, is expected to be unopposed for the Democratic congressional nomination; her rival, former Hillsborough Mayor Joseph Tricarico, dropped his campaign for Congress on Sunday.

ANOTHER VISIT TO THE LAND OF MAKE-BELIEVE FOR ASSEMBLYMEN CORODEMUS AND KEAN

In the rough and tumble world of politics sometimes the truth gets bent and stretched a bit to make a point. Here in the 11th District, the truth has been largely ignored, as Assemblymen Steve Corodemus and Sean Kean make increasingly frequent visits to the Land of Make-Believe to fuel their increasingly baseless accusations and accolades as they attempt to further distance themselves from their non-existent records.

They vote and they contribute

A comment at a Assembly Republican campaign meeting last August has helped Democrats Matt Doherty and Jim Reilly raise an estimated $10,000 from donors who would not normally have taken an interest in the ouster of incumbents Steve Corodemus and Sean Kean. During a review of voter turnout projections in the 11th district, Assembly GOP Executive DIrector Rick Wright noted that "gays in Asbury Park don't vote."

In the living room of Ocean Terrace resident Rose LaRosa, 11th District Democratic Assembly candidates Matt Doherty and Jim Reilly, State Senator Ellen Karcher, and Monmouth County Democratic Freeholder candidates Rebecca Aaronson and Barbara McMorrow successfully helped the residents of the Marine Terrace, Ocean Terrace and Seaview Avenue Alliance (MTOTSA) host their first legal defense fund fundraiser, infusing their fight against eminent domain abuse with donations from residents, community leaders and concerned elected officials across Monmouth County.

Codey '06

Ross Golband, a junior at George Washington University who is an intern in Acting Governor Richard Codey's Washington office, attended a briefing this Wednesday on the 2006 national election landscape that was sponsored by the Hotline, a D.C-based political publication. Codey has not ruled out accepting an appointment to Jon Corzine's U.S. Senate seat, should Corzine win the governorship next month. If he took the seat, Codey would presumably stand for election in November 2006, likely against Republican Tom Kean, Jr. Tom Edwards, Codey's Washington office director, said he sent Golband, who interns three days a week in the office, simply because it was a chance for him to explore the D.C. political scene. "Don't misconstrue any of this," Edwards said. "It had nothing to do with anybody's political aspirations. It was an opportunity for a college student to get some exposure to some political prognosticating."
