Senator Kevin O’Toole (R-40) responded today to Governor Jon Corzine’s unwillingness for the past three weeks to respond to a request for records that show what funds he is freezing in order to address a $1.2 billion revenue drop and $200 million of new spending bills that have decimated the State’s $600 million surplus. The Corzine Administration had previously responded to an early-December OPRA request from Senate Republicans by stating that the release of requested documents would be delayed until Christmas Eve (click here to view Administration’s response as PDF).

The Draft Global Warming Response Act Recommendation Report, issued on December 15, 2008, represents the Administration's long-term plan to address global warming. Senate Republican Leader Tom Kean (R-21) and Senator Jennifer Beck (R-12) again called on Governor Corzine today to publicly detail the steps he has taken to deal with a budget deficit of at least $600 million. Despite the fact that the deficit is growing every day as revenue collections sputter, the Governor continues to sign new spending bills into law without saying what will be cut to pay for them. A $600 million planned budget surplus for the current year has already been impacted by a $1.2 billion revenue drop that has yet to be addressed.

TRENTON – Governor Jon S. Corzine today announced his intention to nominate Commerce Secretary Virginia S. Bauer to the Board of Commissioners for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.  Bauer, a former executive director of the New Jersey State Lottery, became CEO and Secretary of the New Jersey Commerce, Economic Growth & Tourism Commission in July 2004. Her husband, David Bauer, lost his life in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Since then, Secretary Bauer has become a leading advocate for families of 9/11 victims and has been actively involved in the redevelopment plan for the World Trade Center.
