Real Payroll Data at Odds with Phony Numbers Provided by Governor’s Office

Senator Steven Oroho (R-24) challenged Governor Corzine’s repeated claims that he has eliminated 8,200 State employees and cut the cost of government. In a recent article in The Record, the Governor questioned why nobody has given him credit for those cuts that he has claimed. Senator Oroho has an answer for the Governor: like his false claims that he created thousands of private-sector jobs, his wildly exaggerated claim that he eliminated more than 8,000 government jobs does not reflect reality, and the public knows it.

Senator Joe Pennacchio, R-Morris and Passaic, said he will continue to monitor transparency in the spending of federal stimulus aid in New Jersey, after Governor Corzine announced that he has finally taken the first steps toward helping taxpayers track where their money is going.

New Jersey's casino laws leave little doubt that even the appearance of conflict of interest is unacceptable. Governor Corzine must reveal documents that would confirm definitively whether he is invested in a hedge fund with close ties to the casino industry.

Will rising joblessness increase the $3.6 billion deficit in the New Jersey fund that pays unemployment benefits? It's time the governor update the public on the state's worsening economic fortunes.

The homeless, the unemployed and the underemployed deserve to know why Governor Corzine isn't using every tool at the state's disposal to combat this recession, says Senate Republican Leader Tom Kean. It's time for the governor to call a special session on job creation, or explain why this issue isn't important enough to take immediate action, the senator said.

Governor Corzine shouldn't take four months to develop a response to a housing ruling that will lead to expensive lawsuits and strong pressures to raise property taxes. 

Tom Kean Calls For Special Session to Review COAH Regulations and Court Decision Permitting Unfettered Development

Senate Republican Leader Tom Kean today requested that Governor Jon Corzine call an immediate special session of the Legislature to review the COAH law and regulations adopted last year and to discuss the impact of yesterday’s Appellate Court decision on affordable housing.
