GLOBAL WARMING RESPONSE ACT SIGNED INTO LAW

Legislation sponsored by Senator Thomas Kean, and co-sponsored by Assemblyman Eric Munoz and Assemblyman Jon Bramnick, which would implement protocols to reduce the impact of greenhouse gases on global temperatures, was signed into law by Governor Corzine today.  The bill, S-2114/A3301, also known as the Global Warming Response Act, would adopt a multi-pronged approach to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels  no later than 2020 and to ensure that greenhouse gas emissions do not exceed more than 80 percent of 2006 levels by 2050.

'GLOBAL WARMING RESPONSE ACT'PASSES ASSEMBLY

(TRENTON) - The Assembly today passed landmark legislation that would make New Jersey the second state in the nation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through an aggressive plan to drastically cut global warming over the next half century.  The bill is sponsored by Assembly members Linda Stender, Valerie Vainieri Huttle, Reed Gusciora, Linda R. Greenstein, and John F. McKeon.

Buono Bill to Stem Global Warming Through Senate Budget Panel

Senator Barbara Buono today welcomed Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee approval of S-2114, the "Global Warming Response Act."

"The United States has five percent of the world's population, yet produces over a quarter of all greenhouse gases," said Senator Buono, D-Middlesex. "As a leading producer of greenhouse gases, we have a moral obligation to future generations to cut those emissions now and prevent the catastrophic consequences that may result from global warming."
