Bucco: Corzine Should Read His Own Executive Order, Then Divest and Disclose

Senate Republican Budget Officer Anthony Bucco said Governor Corzine should re-read his Executive Order No. 1, which lays out the rules for conduct of a governor's financial affairs. "It is obvious that the governor is invested in a hedge fund whose managers also own casinos," Bucco said. Cardinale: The Corzine Record on Hiring Politically Connected Lawyers

The governor's surrogates have been full of bluster and hyperpole about the evils of hiring politically connected law firms. Yet Governor Corzine, who hasn't managed to push an ethics reform package through a Legislature controlled by his own party, has never suggested that his administration stop hiring politically connected law firms, or that the Legislature ban lawyers from donating to campaigns. The governor should make his rhetoric match his actions, rather than pointing fingers at others.
