BURZICHELLI/CHIVUKULA/FISHER BILL TO EDUCATE CONSUMERS ON SWITCH FROM ANALOG TO DIGITAL TV BROADCASTS ADVANCES

(TRENTON) - Legislation Assembly members John Burzichelli, Upendra Chivukula and Douglas H. Fisher sponsored to educate consumers on the upcoming television broadcast switch from analog to digital was released today by the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities panel.

JASEY TAKES OATH AS ESSEX COUNTY'S NEWEST ASSEMBLYWOMAN

(TRENTON) -- Mila M. Jasey, a former public health nurse and veteran school board member for South Orange/Maplewood took her oath of office today as an Assemblywoman representing the 27th District in Essex County.
Jasey's swearing in - coupled with that of newly appointed Assemblywoman Elease Evans - gives the Legislature eight African-American women members, the most in state history.

HACKENSACK - Today Bergen County Sheriff Leo McGuire and Freeholders James Carroll, Tomas Padilla and Elizabeth Calabrese accepted the endorsement of the Bergen County Education Association. In letters addressed to the candidates, the BCEA announced that its membership voted to back each Democratic candidate at the organization’s September meeting.

SARLO-DORIA BILL TO GIVE HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS EDUCATION IN PERSONAL FINANCE

TRENTON - A bill sponsored by Senators Paul A. Sarlo and Joseph F. Doria which would establish a pilot program to provide instruction to high school seniors on personal finance was unanimously approved today by the Senate Education Committee.
