Republicans prepare for legal challenge to obtain Corzine/Katz e-mails

GOP State Chairman Tom Wilson is calling on Gov. Jon Corzine to release any state business related emails he made from his personal email account, and is threatening to sue if Corzine does not comply.

An ethics advisory panel issued a 37-page report today regarding the state's negotiations of a contract for state workers with the Communications Workers of America union.

Another labor endorsement for GOP's Baroni

CWA Local 1039 President Thomas J. Palermo announced today that he will support Republican Bill Baroni for State Senate in the 14th district. This is the third CWA local to come out for Baroni since incumbent Peter Inverso's unexpected retirement announcement two days ago.

"Bill has been a great supporter for the state workers and continues to be a friend of labor," Palermo told PoliticsNJ.com. Locals 1033 and 1034 have already said they would back Baroni, a two-term Assemblyman from Hamilton.

Baroni picks up key union endorsement

A second major labor endorsement in the 14th district State Senate race has gone to Republican Bill Baroni: CWA Local 1033, which represents more than 6,000 state workers in Mercer County, announced this morning that they would back the two-term Assemblyman from Hamilton.

"Assemblyman Baroni has stood shoulder to shoulder with the members of this Local throughout our many fights to save workers Pensions and Health Benefits," said Local 1033 President Rae Roeder. "Baroni has been a long time friend to labor and has always made time to listen to the concerns of the workers of this Local both in and outside of his district."

CWA Local 1034 denounces attacks on Katz

The Executive Board of CWA Local 1034 -- which represents more than half of the state government employees -- has denounced leaders of five other CWA locals for their attacks on union leader Carla Katz. In a memorandum to Hetty Rosenstein (Local 1037), Jim Marketti (Local 1032), Carolyn Wade (Local 1040), John Rose (Local 1031) and Tom Palermo (Local 1039), the 1034 board calls their attacks on Katz “reprehensible� and urges a no vote on the state contract.
