Christie plays Hardball

Ten days after leaving his post as U.S. Attorney, Chris Christie is hitting the national television circuit to weigh in on corruption in other states.

Christie appeared on MSNBC’s Hardball with Chris Matthews to discuss the corruption scandal surrounding Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who allegedly tried to auction off President-elect Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat for personal gain.

Christie said that Blagojevich is “clearly off his rocker, arrogant and drunk with power” and that the case was a “potpourri of corruption.”

Chris Matthews would have hosted Lautenberg/Andrews debate

MSNBC personality Chris Matthews was tapped to host a debate between Democratic Senate candidates Frank Lautenberg and Rob Andrews, but it was not to be, according to a report in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The debate would have been sponsored by the Inquirer and NBC’s Philadelphia affiliate, and would have taken place on the eve of the June 3rd primary. 

Andrews accepted, but Lautenberg rejected the offer. 

Andrews and Lautenberg will participate in two debates: a radio debate Thursday night on 101.5 fm, and a televised debate on NJN next Friday at 8:00 p.m.
