“I hope the freeholder don’t try to skip out on the debate and cheat the public out of the opportunity to question them,” said Republican freeholder candidate Paul Duggan. 

If  freeholders Ganz and McPherson did knuckle under to such pressure from Joe Ferriero then shame on them --  they don’t deserve to be freeholders because they put their party boss ahead of the taxpayers.  

“The BCIA is nothing more than a conduit for campaign donations to the Democrat Party in Bergen County and I have written to Freeholder Ganz twice asking him to release the fees the BCIA paid over the last three years,”

“The Democrats want to turn small towns into large inefficient, wasteful cities that will become patronage pits for putting more people on the public payroll,

“Mr. Doria ran Bayonne into the ground, now he has his sights set on destroying Bergen County and making it look like Bayonne.”  

“The prudent thing to do would be to delay some of the spending. I am sure that it is not critical to the operation of the county to spend $84 million between May and July,” said Calabrese. “Yet, the freeholder keep piling up the debt and saddling taxpayers with a huge debt fee.”

“It’s obscene that the county didn’t have the money this year to purchase development rights to a 23 acre farm in Franklin Lakes, but it has the money to pay for artificial turf fields and swing sets for municipalities,” said Calabrese. “Shouldn’t those local improvements be paid for by the municipalities

“Bergen County will play a key role in deciding the fortunes John McCain and Dick Zimmer in New Jersey and I want to demonstrate to the state that the Bergen Republican Party is energized and ready to work for candidates from the top of the ballot down to the municipal level."

The Federal Government’s investigation into Bergen County Democratic Organization lawyer Dennis Oury is a welcome sign that federal oversight has finally arrived to Bergen County, say Bergen’s Republican freeholder candidates.  

“The freeholders aren’t using their power to pressure the state to abandon the lunacy of the COAH proposals,” said Duggan. “They are raising taxes and bowing to the social engineers that want the entire state to look like Hudson County.”
