    With the recent release of property tax and municipal aid data for 2008, Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande, R-Monmouth and Mercer, said today that based on the actual figures that towns in her district realized, the Corzine administration is not being honest when they assert that they are providing relief for property taxpayers, and that the data suggests this administration is placing a further burden on New Jerseyans, not helping them.

“CONSUMER RELIEF ACT”

LEGISLATION WOULD CREATE THREE, 10-DAY SALES TAX HOLIDAYS IN ‘09

       As New Jersey retailers continue to experience declines in sales and reduce employment levels, Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande, R – Mercer and Monmouth, and Assemblyman Vince Polistina, R – Atlantic, introduced legislation today that will create three separate shopping periods where the state sales tax would be reduced by at least half.  The bill, titled the “Consumer Relief Act of 2009,” is aimed at providing a direct stimulus to consumers and retailers.  Under the proposal, ten day shopping periods, in March, July, and October would be created throughout the state.
