The Monmouth County Legislative delegation has issued the following statement in response to the claim made by Vice President Joseph Biden concerning Gov. Corzine’s jobs record:

“As representatives of Monmouth County, we have seen job losses and financial woes increase dramatically over the past four years, and it’s impossible to see any real strides the Corzine administration has made towards remedying the situation.

Senator Jennifer Beck, Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande attended a press conference this afternoon at Monmouth Park Racetrack to announce that the Borough of Oceanport has been awarded a $22 million loan by the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Trust (NJEIT) for improvements at the racetrack.

Governor Corzine says we don't need new laws to fight corruption. Is it any wonder that his ethics package has gone no where in the state Legislature? Or that commonsense ethics bills aren't even being considered?

Senator Jennifer Beck, Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande said today that this weekend’s Haskell Stakes is a perfect example of the benefit of preserving quality horseracing with competitive purses can facilitate horse racing and the gaming industry as a whole in New Jersey. A study released Thursday, July 28, 2009 by the Rutgers Equine Science Center stated that the equine industry in New Jersey is valued at $4 billion and supports 13, 000 jobs and 176, 000 acres of operating farmland.

Failing to Take A Bribe Is Not Enough–Law Enforcement Must Be Contacted

Senator Jennifer Beck, Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande, all R-Monmouth announced that she will be introducing legislation establishing criminal penalties for public servants who are offered bribes or witness bribery attempts, but fail to report the activity to State or Federal law enforcement officials. Other states have a law on the books that requires appointed or elected officials to report a bribe, but not New Jersey.

Beck, O’Scanlon and Casagrande Call For Reinstatement Of Regional Contribution Agreements to Meet COAH Obligations

Senator Jennifer Beck announces her disappointment that her motion to move out of committee S-2687, a bill that would reinstate the regional contribution agreements entered into prior to July 17, 2008, was tabled by a vote in the State Senate yesterday. Beck, Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande all opposed A-500, which was the bill that originally removed RCAs.

Even with the promise of bipartisan support, this governor has failed to get his package or any meaningful ethics legislation through the Legislature. It's no wonder voters are questioning whether the governor really wants reform or if his September announcement was merely an attempt to pander to the polls in an election year.
