GOVERNOR CORZINE ANNOUNCES SEVERANCE PACKAGE AGREEMENT FOR SANDS HOTEL AND CASINO EMPLOYEES

TRENTON – Governor Jon S. Corzine, UNITE HERE Local 54, Pinnacle Entertainment and Commissioner David J. Socolow today announced that an agreement has been reached to provide severance payments for union employees of the Sands Hotel and Casino. Pinnacle Entertainment recently purchased the Sands and plans to demolish the property in order to rebuild a larger and more modern facility. The transaction agreement left open for future negotiations, the status of severance pay for unionized employees while providing a severance package for non-union Sands workers.

TRENTON - The Senate Judiciary Committee today unanimously approved the nomination of Kevin Ryan to be Commissioner of the Department of Children and Families.

The 10-0 vote sent the nomination of Ryan to the full Senate where a floor vote could be held as early as next Monday, Sept. 25th.
