ROBERTS/VOSS/PRIETO BILL TO REQUIRE COVERAGE OF AUTISM & DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY TREATMENTS GET FINAL LEGISLATIVE APPROVAL

(TRENTON) – Legislation Assemblymen Joseph J. Roberts, Jr. and Vincent Prieto and Assemblywoman Joan Voss sponsored to make New Jersey the 14th state in the nation to require health insurers to cover treatments for autism and other developmental disabilities received final legislative approval today.

“Many New Jersey families already are being stretched to their financial edge – but without health coverage for their loved ones, countless families with an autistic child are bankrupting themselves to give their child the potential for a brighter future,” said Roberts (D-Camden).  “Autistic and disabled adults who have not received the proper treatment will leave our families, communities and state with new and more expensive challenges.”

Assemblymen Joseph J. Roberts, Jr. and Vincent Prieto and Assemblywoman Joan Voss today commended the Senate for passing legislation they are sponsoring to make New Jersey the 14th state in the nation to require health insurers to cover treatments for autism and other developmental disabilities.

Senator Weinberg To Introduce Resolution Asking Part-Time Board And Commission Members To Forgo Pay For Three Months

TRENTON – Senator Loretta Weinberg is planning to introduce a resolution urging certain paid members of boards and commissions in state and local government to waive three-month’s of salary and pay their own and their public’s pension contributions.

The proposed Senate Resolution, which is being drafted, would ask board and commission members who work fewer than 25 hours per week to forgo their pay and make the pension contributions for a period of three months as part of an effort to help the state close a gap in the current state budget.
