In a letter sent today to Rutgers President Richard L. McCormick, Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce called for the university to dismiss Rutgers-Camden Law Professor Richard J. Perr because of his involvement with the New Frontier Political Action Committee that is part of an ongoing federal corruption probe in North Jersey.

Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce says the Tax Foundation’s latest national rankings that list New Jersey as having the highest property taxes and worst business climate are further evidence of the failed policies that Governor Jon Corzine brought to Trenton four years ago.

With today’s news that New Jersey’s unemployment rate had jumped to 9.7 percent in August, Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce said the latest figures dispel the notion that Governor Jon Corzine and his allies in the Legislature have turned the state’s economy around as more people are out of work and suffering from Corzine’s failed policies.

Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce issued the following statement regarding today’s announcement by Assembly Speaker Joseph Roberts, D-Camden, that he is retiring from the Legislature after 22 years of service.

Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce today assailed Monday’s appellate court ruling that local zoning laws could be overturned in the interest of building affordable housing, despite the fact that a town may already have received certification from the state as having met its obligation under the law.

Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce said that as Governor Jon Corzine makes his rounds throughout the state today taking a bow for delivering property tax rebates to seniors, he should also take responsibility for failing to deliver relief promised to the 1.2 million homeowners who won’t receive a check.

Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce issued the following statement on this morning’s arrest of Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt, R-Ocean, Atlantic, and Burlington, as reported by several media outlets:

“I am calling on Assemblyman Van Pelt to immediately resign from the General Assembly. He cannot represent his district effectively with this cloud hanging over his head. The people of the 9th District are entitled to a representative who is above suspicion and beyond reproach. These allegations are disturbing. No betrayal of the public trust can be tolerated. Republicans have long advocated for stronger ethics reforms that hold all public officials accountable for their actions. These reforms apply to all office holders, regardless of their party affiliation.”

Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce said yesterday’s ratification by the Communication Workers of America (CWA) of a new agreement with the state will bring more pain to the overtaxed middle class who will eventually have to pay for the deal negotiated by Governor Jon Corzine.

Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce said today’s signing of the fiscal 2010 budget by Governor Jon Corzine once again balances the state’s budget on the backs of hard-working middle class taxpayers, and continues his financial assault on those who can least afford it.

Two legislative committees are scheduled to vote on Gov. Jon S. Corzine’s $28.6 billion budget on Monday and as of Friday afternoon the Democrats who control state government were still keeping taxpayers in the dark about the details.
