“Our future depends on the foundation we lay for our children, which is why more than $11 billion  – or nearly 40 percent of this year’s proposed budget – is for pre-K through 12th grade education..."

WATSON COLEMAN TO HOLD HEARING WITH NATIONAL EXPERTS TO EXAMINE RE-ENTRY ISSUES

(TRENTON) – Assembly Majority Leader Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Mercer) today announced she will host a hearing with national reentry experts this coming Wednesday to examine positive trends in reducing recidivism rates. 

The hearing is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, Committee Room 11 at the State House Annex.

The upcoming hearing will be the eighth in a series of Second Chance Hearings hosted by the Majority Leader across New Jersey from Cumberland to Somerset to Essex counties.  The emphasis of this hearing will be reviewing the best national practices aimed at breaking the pervasive cycle of arrest, incarceration, release and reincarceration and the financial impact to the state.
