Without first choice Gore, Gusciora runs on uncommitted slate

Assemblyman Reed Gusciora’s early legwork to get former vice president Al Gore into the 2008 presidential race ran amok when Gore flatly said he wasn’t going to run.

The left Gusciora, a prime co-sponsor of the state’s Global Warming Response Act, without his optimum green candidate.

Gusciora seeks Gore delegates for 2008

Former Vice President Al Gore joined Gov. Jon Corzine on Friday for the signing of New Jersey's global warming lawFormer Vice President Al Gore joined Gov. Jon Corzine on Friday for the signing of New Jersey's global warming law
Assemblyman Reed Gusciora wants former Vice President Al Gore to be the next president. So he's launching a statewide grassroots movement to muster the necessary New Jersey delegates to put Gore's name in at the Democratic National Convention next summer.

Forget about a draft Al Gore movement now. It's too late, Gusciora contends. Gore supporters, says the veteran progressive legislator, need to organize and take their cause straight out of the February, 2008, Democratic primary to the convention in Denver.

Coming off a ceremony at Giants stadium last Friday at which Gov. Jon Corzine signed the Global Warming Response Act, which Gusciora co-wrote and which global warming guru Gore personally attended, the Assemblyman said he was pumped up to go statewide with his Go Gore message.

Corzine signs Global Warming Response Act

That little old, disrespected Superfund-wasteland-mobland spillzone otherwise known as the State of New Jersey was due for some respect, and so was Jeff Tittel.

As director of the Sierra Club in the country’s most populous state, Tittel has the mostly thankless job of trying to protect the state’s dwindling natural resources. So when Gov. Jon Corzine grabbed a pen at Giants Stadium today and signed into law the Global Warming Response Act, which would reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020, and reduce by 80% of 2006 levels by the year 2050, Tittel figured he could chest-thump just a little. more >

Gore to attend Corzine bill signing

Former Vice President Al Gore will be at the Meadowlands tomorrow when Gov. Jon Corzine signs the Global Warming Response Act.  The new law will make New Jersey the second state  to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through an aggressive plan to drastically cut global warming over the next half century.  Sponsors of the legislation, including Assemblywoman Linda Stender and State Sen. Barbara Buono, will join Corzine and Gore at the signing.

Gore is in New Jersey to attend the Live Earth Concert for Climate Change.
