The Corzine-Moriarty Record:
More South Jersey Jobs Lost

Archer Daniels Midland Company to close
Glassboro facility; Where is Paul Moriarty?

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP -- Last week, the Archer Daniels Midland Company announced its intentions to close their cocoa facility in Glassboro. Faced with the prospect of losing a major employer in his district, Paul Moriarty showed his "Corzine colors" by failing to act or offer any leadership on this critical issue.

Eugene Lawrence, candidate for Assembly in the Fourth Legislative District, said, "Glassboro's borough administrator, Joe Brigandi, told reporters on June 25th that they would continue to try to reach out to Archer Daniels. Since that time, our legislators have been missing in action. We need leaders in Trenton like Domenick and I who will fight for every job in our district."

"Unfortunately for the citizens of our state and more directly of our District, the policies Corzine and Moriarty of serving special interests at the expense of our taxpayers is directly impacting our neighbors," added Domenick DiCicco, who is also running for Assembly. "To be absent from such a discussion and not being passionately involved in trying to save the jobs of our neighbors is simply inexcusable. Moriarty and Corzine's policies of selling the state to special interests at the expense of the working man are simply a sin."

"Corzine and Moriarty's polices are destroying the economic security of our state. As proven by this latest loss of good paying jobs, the record of the Corzine Moriarty administration in one of failure upon the backs of our citizens," DiCicco added. "This is not my opinion, but simply fact. At the end of the day, the voters alone have the power to change this administration. Enough pain has been heaped upon us and our neighbors."

"It's the failed leadership of politicians like Jon Corzine and Paul Moriarty that lead to businesses, jobs, friends and neighbors leaving our state," DiCicco concluded. "It's time to bring new leadership to South Jersey, a team that will work to rebuild and restore our economy from day one."

4th District Assembly Candidates Lawrence & DiCicco Call For Opposition to Corzine's Budget

4th District Assembly Candidates Lawrence and DiCicco
Call on Democrats to Stand Up for Taxpayers
and Oppose Corzine's Budget

Lawrence and DiCicco say budget full of one-shot gimmicks
and unacceptable cuts in property tax relief

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP -- Eugene Lawrence and Domenick DiCicco, candidates for the General Assembly in the 4th Legislative District, called on Democrats to oppose Governor Corzine's $28.6 billion budget.

"Jon Corzine's budget is an embarrassment to New Jersey and is nothing more than a shell game, trying to fool the public in an election year," said DiCicco, a resident of Franklin Township. "To present a budget that guts property tax rebates for nearly all New Jerseyans, after pledging to expand those very same rebates, represents the absolute worst kind of politics. New Jersey deserves better than representatives who promise one thing during campaign season and then do the opposite once they are elected."

"Voters must ask themselves if they really want four more years of this nonsense from the Governor and an Assembly that supports him," DiCicco added.

The Corzine budget also raises taxes on some consumer goods as well as an income tax hike on New Jerseyans who are already paying some of the highest taxes anywhere in the United States.

"This budget hurts regular people," added Lawrence, a resident of Gloucester Township and a former Democratic councilman. "Under Jon Corzine, the average property tax bill in Gloucester Township has gone up almost 9 percent. In Washington Township, taxes are up almost 20 percent, and in Franklin Township, taxes are up almost 27 percent. Regular people are being taxed straight out of New Jersey, and this budget is just more of the same."

Corzine's budget represents no fundamental change from previous budgets, relying on ineffective, one-shot gimmicks to try to fill massive budget holes left by poor fiscal management and repressive taxation.

"Voters need to decide whether they want more of the same or if they want real change," Lawrence said. "We represent real change."

"High taxes and out of control spending are what got us into this mess," DiCicco concluded. "More high taxes and more out of control spending are not going to get us out of it. What New Jersey needs is fiscal responsibility in Trenton, and South Jersey deserves Assemblymen in Trenton who will do the right thing and vote against bloated budgets like this one."

Former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives
Newt Gingrich Endorses Domenick DiCicco for Assembly

Former Speaker of the House and architect of the ’94 Republican Revolution
says DiCicco will bring “experience and tenacity” to Trenton

FRANKLINVILLE – Former Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Newt Gingrich announced his endorsement of Domenick DiCicco for Assembly in the 4th Legislative District.

A copy of the letter from Speaker Gingrich is below:

May 28, 2009

Dear South Jersey Republicans:

New Jersey is too often the example of activist, liberal government run amok. With some of the highest taxes in the country and some of the most hostile anti-business, anti-growth policies, New Jersey's state government is in desperate need of reform.

Over the past couple of years, I have had the opportunity to visit and work with Domenick DiCicco. He is a good man and someone who would make a good representative in the Assembly for the 4th Legislative District. He will bring the right combination of experience and tenacity to the problems that have beset the people of New Jersey. I am confident that, if Domenick is elected, he will work tirelessly to reduce the tax burden on New Jersey families, to restrain government spending, and to declare New Jersey "open for business" once more.

New Jersey needs Domenick's leadership and good sense in Trenton.

Sincerely,

Newt Gingrich

ICYMI: Eugene E.T. Lawrence for Assembly

In Case You Missed It:
Eugene E.T. Lawrence for Assembly

HADDON HEIGHTS – Before an energized crowd, Camden County GOP Chairman Richard DeMichele, Jr., announced former Gloucester Township Councilman Eugene E.T. Lawrence as the county’s candidate for the General Assembly in the 4th Legislative District.

Lawrence addressed the packed room with a passionate speech about the need for government to start working for the people who elected them, rather than acting as if it was the other way around. In a statement to the press, Lawrence also criticized Governor Jon Corzine’s budget for unfairly targeting middle class families.

“Lawrence to run for GOP in Dist. 4,” Pete McCarthy, Gloucester County Times, March 13, 2009

One-half of the Republican Party's slate of candidates to run for Assembly in the 4th District was set Thursday night when party leaders announced a former Gloucester Township councilman as their choice.

One-time Democrat Eugene "E.T." Lawrence, 56, will run for the statewide office with a yet to be determined candidate from Gloucester County.

"He has a unique ability to bring people together all across the district," said Camden County GOP executive director Tim Saler. "We are very excited to have him on the ticket."

In a statement announcing his candidacy, Lawrence railed against Gov. Jon Corzine for announcing a $29.8 billion budget this week that calls for cuts to property tax rebates and unpaid furloughs for state workers.

"The people of Gloucester Township and the 4th District are suffering today, and they are suffering because Jon Corzine has decided to try to balance his budget on the backs of middle-class families," said Lawrence. "His budget doesn't go far enough to eliminate wasteful government programs."

Lawrence served on the council from 2000 to 2006 and wrote the first Affirmative Action policy for the township.

“Former Gloucester Twp. Councilman switches parties, will seek GOP nod for Assembly in District 4,” Matt Friedman, PolitickerNJ.com, March 12, 2009

Camden County Republicans have picked up a former Democrat to run for State Assembly in the 4th district.

At a rally tonight, the party plans to announce that former Gloucester Township Councilman Eugene E.T. Lawrence will switch parties and run as a Republican against incumbent Paul Moriarty (D-Washington Twp.) and whomever Democrats pick to replace outgoing Assemblywoman Sandra Love (D-Gloucester Township). Lawrence's candidacy has been kept under wraps by Camden County Republicans, but they hyped it as a "game changer" last week.

In a statement, Lawrence aimed squarely at Governor Corzine's budget proposals, criticizing him for eliminating the property tax deduction.

"The people of Gloucester Township and the 4th Legislative District are suffering today, and they are suffering because Jon Corzine has decided to try to balance his budget on the backs of middle class families," said the former Camden County Chamber of Commerce and NAACP leader.

Republicans championed Lawrence's work in favor of affirmative action, noting that he wrote Gloucester Township's first affirmative action policy.

John Custodio, Democrat for Assembly?

John Custodio, Democrat for Assembly?

Gloucester Township Councilwoman and former Senate candidate
Shelley Lovett says Custodio would be great in Trenton,
would stand up to Jon Corzine and fight for taxpayers

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP -- Councilwoman Shelley Lovett of Gloucester Township has responded to recent rumors that John Custodio, a former President of the Black Horse Pike Regional School District, may be recruited to run as a Democrat for the General Assembly in the 4th Legislative District this year.

"As someone who has run in the 4th Legislative District before, I know that John would be a great representative in the Assembly," Lovett said. "John and I are both strong fiscal conservatives who would stand up to Jon Corzine and fight for taxpayers in South Jersey."

"Unfortunately, John would never fit in with the Democrats in Trenton because he holds his fiscal conservative principles so strongly," Lovett added. "We know from the recent incident with Assemblyman Greenwald that those who speak up against Jon Corzine will be muzzled."

Local Republican leaders also commented on the rumors of Custodio's potential candidacy.

"This is insane," said Gloucester Township GOP Chairman Ray Polidoro. "It's more likely that Dan Hutchison would run as a Republican--again--than John Custodio would run as a Democrat. It's clear to me that the Democrats are just nervous and desperate."

"I know John Custodio," said Camden County GOP Chairman Richard DeMichele, Jr., said. "And John Custodio is no Democrat. He wouldn't be caught dead on a ticket with a tax-hiker like Paul Moriarty."
