Senators Robert Littell, (R-24), Anthony Bucco, (R-25), and Assemblywoman Alison McHose, (R-24) issued the following joint statement regarding Governor Corzine's refusal to permit the routine re-approval of regulations re-authorizing the fish and game code.

Senators Robert Littell, (R-24), Anthony Bucco, (R-25), and Assemblywoman Alison McHose, (R-24) issued the following joint statement regarding Governor Corzine's refusal to permit the routine re-approval of regulations re-authorizing the fish and game code.
"This State has a bear management plan and regulations authorizing a bear hunt that were duly adopted by the Fish and Game Council in accordance with the statutory law, were approved by the DEP Commissioner, and sanctioned by a State Supreme Court decision. The Governor of New Jersey should uphold the oath of office he took in January and ensure that the laws of this State are faithfully executed. It is outrageous that the Governor believes that through a bureaucratic subterfuge he can pick and choose the laws that he will or will not enforce.
"This is more than an issue of separation of powers, or a governor's defiance of the law in order to satisfy an extremist fringe that seeks to ban all hunting. For the people of northwestern New Jersey this is a matter of public safety. We have had bears enter homes, we have seen bears on porches and we have had bears roaming by swing sets. The Governor must follow the law and authorize a hunt now, because it will be too late to act after a child is mauled."
