In a radio address this afternoon, New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer said he needs time with his family in the wake of a New York Times report that he is connected to a prostitution ring.
The Democratic governor said he would take no questions from the press. "I will report back to you in short order," Spitzer said.
Gov. Jon Corzine's deputy press secretary Jim Gardner said Corzine had not spoken to Spitzer today.
In a statement, the New Jersey governor said, "These are serious and disturbing accusations that are completely at odds with the man I know. They come as a complete shock. As the governor said, his actions are a clear violation of his own sense of right and wrong. He will have to regain credibility not only with his family but with the public."

Spitzer, just an average Liberal Democrat
America is better off without this scumbag.
Spitzer destroyed billions in wealth on Wall Street with his witch hunts.
.................................................
Wally,
You should do an online poll.
What's worse? A Governor hiring hookers, or a Governor cruising reststops on the Garden State Parkway looking for sex with strange men.
Just Like Kushner
Boy, nothing like tghese sanctimonious Dem's to gat all jammed-up with hookers. Wonder if his brother-in-law got videotapes.
You gotta love those.....
tri-state democratic governors.....I guess Hillary just lost another superdelegate.....
Not a Good Day
Spitzer will be RESIGNING as Governor of NY and will be INDICTED due to his "involvement" with a prostitution ring.
"Pimpin Ain't Easy"
how about a reality check, prince?
i wasn't aware this was a democrat v. republican issue but since you bring it up, are you talking about iowa senator larry craig who was caught soliciting sex in a minneapolis airport bathroom or florida congressman mark foley who was caught seducing adolescent congressional pages?
Political prostitution NY/ NJ
With $3k - 5K an hour we could wipe out NJ dept in a year.Maybe Corzine will legalize and tax it and and use the rest stops on the turnpike. This sure beats gas tax and toll hike increases.
Disgusting
John Rowland resigned under scandal in Connecticut. Jim McGreevey resigned in disgrace in New Jersey. Now Elliot Spitzer is caught with his pants down and ought to resign. That's three tri-state governors in a span of 4 years. If anyone is still convinced that the escapades of Bill Clinton didn't lower expectations for our elected officials, they are only kidding themselves.
Need more proof? John Lynch is in prison. Wayne Bryant and Sharpe James are likely going to follow him there. Joe Coniglio's in a heap of trouble as well. It's time that we, as a voting public, pay more attention to what the hell is going on and start holding these jerks to a much higher standard.
"The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers." - Thomas Jefferson
Spitzer address was weak
You have to admit; Mcgreevey's fall from grace speech was much better than Spitzer's. Spitzer was not compelling and did not ask for forgiveness. Although his wife looked better than Dina did on the day of.
Spitzer should have used McGreevey's line and just said I am a horny American.
This isn't a partisan issue
http://www.redjersey.net/2008/03/10/spitzers-illegal-act-should-not-be-a-partisan-issue/
I have a much bigger problem with lawmakers like Sharpe James and Wayne Bryant abusing taxpayer money than for lawmakers like Governor Spitzer for making a bad decision and committing what appears to be an illegal act. If he was truly involved in a prostitution ring, then he should resign. He will certainly be held acccountable for committing a crime either way by the people of New York, but this isn't an issue that should be used by Republicans for political gain. I know we are all itching to get back at Democrats after they ripped on Republicans after the Foley and Craig scandals, but it will just come back and hit us in the backside sooner than later.
Both Republicans and Democrats are prone to making moral and character mistakes.
What I don't understand...
is why men, powerful and not, risk EVERYTHING for 15 minutes of pleasure every single time. This storyline is boring and predicable, Republican or Democrat. When will they learn that anonymous SEX is NEVER ANONYMOUS!!! Every five years or so there needs to be a new version of the movie fatal attraction to get you male morans to PAY ATTENTION!
Male morons
Most men are decent, faithful, caring spouses and fathers. I have never cheated on my wife nor do I intend to,as I know it would destroy the most precious relationship I will ever have apart from that with my God. My wife is my best friend. Maybe, Mom in Law, your personal negative experiences are clouding your judgment on this issue. Truth be told, statistics demonstrate that women cheat as much if not more than men nowadays. So please spare us the generalizations and address Mr. Spitzer's conduct.
Blah Blah More of the same
Another disgraced man with his wife standing by his side, trying to explain away his trysts with prostitutes. Another tale of hyprocrisy and arrogance. And, yes it does seem to be men caught with their flies open....Mr. Martin. "Kristin", the woman, is dusting off her resume to work for another "escort service" while Mr. powerful Spitzer if deciding when and how to quit. Who had more to lose? Who was the moron?
Short Order?
Or the order to pull up his shorts?
