MILLVILLE - While the US Congress continues to do nothing about American energy woes, Constitution Party candidate Peter Boyce (NJ-2) has a solution much better than a tire gauge - the ocean. Boyce's patented Ocean Wave Converting Power Plant/Erosion Reversal System would generate $1.4 billion worth of electricity annually from New Jersey's coast.
The only by-product of extracting energy from the waves is a direct reduction in the rate of beach erosion on New Jersey's shores. This is an important benefit, as Cape May County beach officials stated that there have been 17 emergency calls involving possible spinal chord injuries this year.
Peter Boyce believes these injuries could have been prevented through the use of his invention. "The spinal cord injuries are the direct result of beach replenishment. The goal of replenishment projects is to create as large an area of beach as possible with a minimum amount of sand." Boyce continued, "This creates a steep drop-off of sand causing waves to break abruptly and throwing surfers and bathers head-long into shallow water, breaking necks and spines all unnecessarily."
"The wave energy power plant would be deployed parallel to the coast," explains Boyce, "harnessing the entire length of the state and acting like a 'boom' preventing any oil spills whether from offshore rigs, tankers, capsized boats, etc. from reaching the beach. By replenishing the beaches as a natural by-product of extracting the energy from the waves and converting to electric power, the beach is restored with a gradual slope ideal for safe recreation."
Both Frank LoBiondo (R) and David Kurkowski (D) are against drilling off of New Jersey's coast. While LoBiondo believes the land currently under lease by oil and natural gas companies should be exploited before new leases are granted, on July 17, 2002 he voted to prevent drilling on 36 leases already held by oil and gas companies off the coast of California (Roll Call #315). Boyce said, "As the Constitution Party candidate for the 2nd District, I am in favor of offshore drilling as I will fight to keep the nose of the federal government out of New Jersey's right to make its own decisions." "
Both candidates failed to even mention that drilling or not drilling off New Jersey's coast is not the business of the federal government as per the 10th Amendment," says Boyce. "It is an issue entirely for the State of New Jersey to decide. Neither man, if elected, appear to have any intention of abiding by the limitations on their authority imposed by the U.S. Constitution."
On LoBiondo's campaign web-site, he has stated American taxpayers have shelled out $170 million to pay for beach replenishment on New Jersey's beaches, but Mr. Boyce disagrees with that waste of taxpayer money. "I am also in favor of New Jersey not having to continuously, 'hat-in-hand' beg for money from and burden the other 49 states, to pump sand back onto our beaches when the technology is available to harness energy and control the erosion." When asked why he felt LoBiondo has never encouraged using such technology, Mr. Boyce said it was, "because the permanent solution to the problem of beach erosion would mean an end to their means of re-election via the status quo 'pork barrel' earmarks."
More information on Peter Boyce's Power Plant/Erosion Reversal System and a 3-D animation of the plant in action can be found listed under 'Energy' on the Issues page of his campaign website (www.BoyceYourChoice.com). The Constitution Party, America's fastest-growing and largest third party based on voter registrations (Ballot Access News), is dedicated to returning the federal government to its Constitutional limits.
