Washington Township - In a statement issued today by the South Jersey Assembly delegation Lou Greenwald spoke for the entire delegation to endorse a candidate for Assembly Speaker. Republican candidates for Assembly in the fourth Legislative District, Eugene Lawrence and Domenick DiCicco, said today Paul Moriarty should worry less about who the next Assembly Speaker is and more about keeping jobs in the Fourth Legislative District.
"It is ridiculous to think Paul Moriarty has the time to meet with a group of Assembly members to endorse a candidate for Assembly Speaker at a time when jobs are leaving our district," GOP Assembly candidate Eugene Lawrence said. "Our district is suffering because Paul Moriarty voted with Jon Corzine 94% of the time and rather than do something to fix the problem he lines up with a group of his fellow Democrats to endorse a Speaker candidate. Ridiculous!"
"Moriarty's silence on the $1.34 billion in new taxes he voted for is deafening," Republican Assembly candidate Domenick DiCicco added. "Wasting time deciding on who to support for the position of Assembly Speaker is just another symptom of the problem."
"Exactly two weeks ago we challenged Moriarty to join Senator Kyrillos in his call for Jon Corzine to bring the Legislature back for a special session on job creation and he has sat silent as ADM is packing its bags to leave Glassboro," DiCicco said. "Obviously, given Paul Moriarty's latest example of putting partisan politics before the well-being of his district, he is failing to lead on the issues of the day. Eugene and I are ready to lead and fight hard to keep the jobs that are here while creating new jobs and whatever it takes to pass real tax reform to make New Jersey more affordable."
