Millville - Lou Magazzu recently attempted to explain away the $10,000 interest free loan he gave himself from the Cumberland County Democrats by saying he told his campaign manager. Cumberland County Republican freeholder candidates Rick Tonetta, Tom Sheppard and Sam Fiocchi aren't buying the explanation and have more questions pertaining to the loan."For Lou Magazzu to attempt to explain away a $10,000 interest free loan by saying his campaign manager said it was okay is ridiculous," Republican freeholder candidate Rick Tonetta said. "Just once I'd like to hear Magazzu say something of substance.""The explanation was laughable," GOP freeholder candidate Tom Sheppard added. "Imagine the uproar if one of us told our campaign manager the Republican organization was giving out a $10,000 interest free loan. I expected Magazzu to do a better job spinning the loan but, then again, when you get caught with your hand in the cookie jar it's hard to get it out.""The problem for Magazzu and all his spinning is no one is buying it and there are a lot of questions left unanswered regarding the $10,000 interest free loan he gave to himself," Republican freeholder candidate Sam Fiocchi said."Either Magazzu or Jon Corzine need to come clean with the circumstances around the $5,000 contribution to Magazzu for NACo a month after he lost the election," Fiocchi continued. "Any person who can think for themselves would come to the conclusion that the Corzine contribution looks suspicious."Fiocchi asked, "Was this $5,000 contribution simply a way to wheel money to the Cumberland County Democratic Organization? Did Magazzu ask for the contribution after he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar? Did Magazzu and Corzine share emails regarding the situation?"# # #Paid for by Cumberland County Regular Republican Organization

“She has already chosen the interests of the insurance industry over the health care needs of working people, she took millions from Wall Street as the economy went into a meltdown, and now she wants to purchase a job in Congress at a time when so many have lost their jobs because of the actions of big bankers and others." -- Monmouth County Democrats spokesman Mike Mangan, on Republican Diane Gooch, who is challenging U.S. Rep.
