Woodbury, NJ (November 19, 2008) - With the close of the Wayne Bryant corruption trial and Bryant being found guilty on all counts the Gloucester County Republican Executive Committee is calling on Gloucester County Freeholder Director Stephen Sweeney to hold Wayne Bryant accountable to the taxpayers of Gloucester County.
Gloucester County Republican Executive Committee Chair Loran Oglesby said, "Now that Mr. Bryant has been found guilty of using Gloucester County as a way to pad his pension by billing the Gloucester County Board of Social Services $200,000 for legal work that, with the exception of 15 hours, was performed by others, it's time Stephen Sweeney does the right thing and gets our money back."
"He didn't have a problem with the County suing to get money back to restore his name after he and others were named in a failed sexual harassment suit," Oglesby continued. "The same standard should apply here. Friend and ally of Sweeney, Corzine, Norcross and Warren Wallace or not, Sweeney should hold Bryant to the same standard he held others who cost the county money."
"If Sweeney doesn't have the courage to do the right thing I would hope, considering he is up for re-election next year, Deputy Freeholder Director Damminger has the courage to take the lead and convince the Freeholder Board to do whatever it takes to get the taxpayers their money back," Oglesby said.
