Florham Park, NJ (May 13, 2008) – “Jersey Joe” Pennacchio’s campaign has learned Dick Zimmer took campaign contributions from several attendees of the infamous Clinton White House coffee klatches.
According to a 1997 Washington Post article Dick Zimmer received campaign contributions from at least nine members of the Clinton administration’s coffee list.
“Mr. Zimmer has yet to release a list of his lobbyist clients and now we learn big Democratic donors supported him in one of the nastiest campaigns this state has ever seen,” Pennacchio said. “Who exactly did you lobby for Dick and who lobbied you? It’s time you let the voters see what you’re hiding.”
Pennacchio continued, “When liberal activists like Ann Brown have provided support to him, voters in this Republican primary election deserve to know what other liberals Mr. Zimmer has aligned himself with.”
“There are other big Democratic donors on the list of past Zimmer supporters,” Pennacchio stated. “Given some of the votes in which he sided with liberals, including voting against the Hyde Amendment and against amendments to stop funding hateful, bigoted art, Dick Zimmer should come clean and tell voters in this Republican primary what other liberal activists have supported him.”
Joe Pennacchio is a New Jersey State Senator representing the 26th Legislative District.
