MENENDEZ HAILS $19.5 MILLION FOR NJ TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

NEWARK – U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today hailed more than $19.5 million, in part from the economic recovery package, that will help fund 35 separate transportation and infrastructure projects in New Jersey. The projects have been selected by the State Department of Transportation for funding as part of the Transportation Enhancement Program. Menendez highlighted the benefits of this funding for job creation and quality of life. “Creating jobs is the most important thing we can do right now,” said Menendez. “This funding and these projects will put people to work now and when completed, these projects will enhance our transportation network to make New Jersey more competitive economically. Modernizing our streets, rehabilitating rail stations and enhancing bike paths will help reduce traffic, reduce energy costs and clean the air we breathe.
