SEN. MENENDEZ STATEMENT ON PASSING OF EUNICE KENNEDY SHRIVER

WASHINGTON – Early this morning, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, founder of the Special Olympics, passed away at the age of 88. U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) released the following statement in her honor.

“Today, our nation lost one of its great humanitarians. Eunice Kennedy Shriver’s life’s work of empowering those with intellectual disabilities has made ours a stronger, more accepting nation. Through her tireless efforts, she helped make sure that every member of our community is valued.  In addition to her humanitarianism, it is clear that she was one of the most beloved and respected members of the Kennedy family. My thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Kennedy Shriver’s family and friends.”
