SEN. MENENDEZ BLASTS BUSH FOR PLANS TO TAKE NO FURTHER ACTION ON GHG EMMISSIONS

WASHINGTON – The Washington Post reported today that the Bush administration is prepared to delay any action by the Environmental Protection Agency to curb greenhouse gas emissions for the rest of President Bush’s term.

U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), a member of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, released the following statement:

“Apparently the Bush administration is the last place on Earth unaffected by climate change. Make no mistake, their eight-year long foot drag on our planetary crisis will not just harm us, but our children and our children’s children as well. History will remember that when the extent of our planetary emergency came into focus, this president refused to act. This nation has the will and the ability to cut down emissions and start healing our planet, but we simply don’t have the cooperation of an administration that’s stuck in the past.”
