CODEY APPOINTS WEINBERG TO FILL VACANCY ON SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE

            TRENTON – Senate President Richard J. Codey (D-Essex) today announced the appointment of Senator Loretta Weinberg to the Senate Judiciary Committee.  Senator Weinberg will fill the vacancy that will be created when Senator John H. Adler (D-Cherry Hill) leaves to join Congress and current committee member Senator Paul A. Sarlo (D-Bergen, Passaic, Essex) ascends to Senator Adler’s position as Judiciary Committee Chair.

            “Loretta Weinberg is an ideal choice for the Senate Judiciary Committee,” said Senator Codey.  “Few members rival her passion and commitment to justice and equality.  She brings with her an independent spirit and nuanced approach to government that will help ensure a thorough vetting of all gubernatorial nominees, particularly judicial candidates.”

            Senator Weinberg’s seat on the committee will become effective when Sen. Adler departs to join Congress.  Senator Weinberg will retain her Vice Chairmanship of both the Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee and the Senate State Government Committee.
