CODEY APPOINTS SARLO TO CHAIR JUDICIARY COMMITTEE

            TRENTON – Senate President Richard J. Codey (D-Essex) today announced the appointment of Senator Paul A. Sarlo (D-Bergen, Passaic, Essex) as the new Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee to fill the vacancy that will be left when Senator John H.Adler (D-Cherry Hill) leaves to join Congress.

            “I’d like to thank John Adler for his fine stewardship of the Senate Judiciary Committee,” said Sen. Codey.  “He has served the committee proudly for many years and we wish him all the best as he heads off to represent New Jersey’s interests in Congress.”

           “I have every confidence in Paul Sarlo’s ability to lead the Judiciary Committee with both an impartiality and a respect for the enormity of his responsibilities.  Paul understands the need for a fair and autonomous committee system, particularly when it comes to the Judiciary Committee, which is charged with ensuring the system of checks and balances that enables all branches of our government to run well,” added Sen. Codey.

Sarlo.

            Senator Sarlo will assume the responsibilities of Judiciary Chair when Senator Adler leaves for Congress.
