Schaer demands an apology from Johnson

Democratic Assemblyman Gary Schaer is upset with Assemblyman Gordon Johnson for donating money to activist Lyndon LaRouche’s political action committee, saying that the donation “makes no sense.”

"For more than a generation, Lyndon LaRouche's neo-fascist, anti-Semitic, and anti-Catholic remarks and writings have been well documented by numerous groups committed to fighting prejudice and bigotry,” said Schear in a press release today.

Schaer, the first Orthodox Jew to serve in the state legislature, said that he was puzzled by the revelation considering Johnson’s “commitment to the diverse communities that comprise his district.” LaRouche has been condemned by the Anti-Defamation League as anti-Semitic, and his views were dismissed former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McCauliffe criticized as being out of step with the party.

“His contributions to an organization headed by an individual whose views appear diametrically opposed to his own make no sense,” said Schaer. "Assemblyman Johnson owes an immediate explanation and an apology to all New Jerseyans for his actions."

Johnson could not immediately be reached for comment.

Go Schaer

Good for Gary, but shouldn't he also be demanding answers in DemCap?

Good for you Gary

About time someone told Johnson off.

Isn't LaRouche anti-Catholic (at least anti-Vatican)...

...anti-Britain (our only real ally remaining), and pretty much anti-everything? Crotchity old bum.

Schaer is a fraud

The guy has done nothing while the likes of Encap and Xanadu litter the 36th legislative district.

I guess he wants to do for South Bergen what his leadership did for the city of Passaic!

The guy isn't even a Democrat. He was a Republican for years! Now he's lecturing lifelong Democrats on how to act?

Give me a break.

10/26/07 4:49 pm

True...

... and he shouldn't hire Republican Consultants who lecture Democrats...and Republicans...right?

Schaer is a Republican.

He was a DiGaetano cronie for years....

He admit to supporting George Bush!

He's only on the ticket to ensure peace between the counties.

Nothing more, nothing less.

He brings nothing to Bergen County and would be beaten in a primary if a qualified Democrat challenged him...

Where was his voice on the issues? Does he still support EnCap & Xanadu?

Give us all a break....

Gary Shaer

Schaer has proven to be solidly loyal to the Democratic Party. The LaRouche Party is deceptively dangerous, truly socialist. They claim, cleverly to be Roosevelt Democrats, but they are nothing of the sort. I don't understand how anyone could donate money to that organization. I will tell you that I met some of the LaRouche peole at the Democratic County headquarters in Hackensack, and they professed to be loyal Democrats.

Let's see through all this

While Johnson was stupid for the donations, we have to see through this.

Schaer is shilling for the ongoing Democratic Smack Down of Weinberg vs Ferriero and responding to the stinging Weinberg press conference a few weeks back.

Schaer is following orders and only switched parties just for self political preservation. When the tide goes out, he'll change again.

Yes Gary Schaer a man of conviction - NOT!

Well Done

Keep it up!
