There is considerable buzz today -- with no confirmation -- that the U.S. Attorney's office will announce the indictment of former State Sen. Joseph Coniglio. Following published reports, Coniglio acknowledged last summer that he was the target of a federal criminal probe stemming from his employment as a plumbing consultant with the Hackensack University Medical Center while helping the hospital obtain state funds. Coniglio dropped his bid for re-election to the Senate after Democratic polling showed his seat to be at risk.

Frees up the FBI investigators for someone else
Like the legislative leader who made money insuring hospitals while simultaneously lobbying for them. No different than Coniglio, except in magnitude.
But we have Physicians and lawyers in the legislators
who are employed by the very systems, agencies and authorities that they legislate on behalf of. Why is Coniglio any different? The hospital administration that hired the guy had to know what they were buying or did they turn a blind eye? There was a big wig lobbyist who was involved in this too who was responsbile for the hiring-what about him?
Legislators with personal interests
How about Legislators that are Union Officials voting to impose Union rules on all public contracts?
What about Legislators like Hudson County's Assemblywoman Joan Quigley, who orchestrated a law to protect her employer,(and her Job) a bankrupt hospital and create a municipal hospital and then had the Governor direct an appropriation to pay off it's debts and change its name to include "University" when it is not a University Hospital?
