Roughneen Declares Support for Fair Tax
Republican Congressional Candidate for the Seventh Congressional District of New Jersey, Tom Roughneen, today became the first candidate in the district from either party to declare his support of the Fair Tax. "We have serious economic problems facing our country, and the Fair Tax is the only tax reform plan that truly addresses them," declared Roughneen.
The Fair Tax erases payroll, death and income taxes, replacing them with a retail consumption tax that lets people take home their entire federal paychecks and decide, through their purchasing decisions, when they pay tax and how much tax they pay. Taxes are done at the checkout counter and not on April 15, and the chances of an IRS audit are zero. The Fair Tax fully funds the federal government at today's level and leaves all of today's programs intact. The Fair Tax features an advance rebate, or "prebate," which together with other features, favors low and middle-income individuals.
Candidate Roughneen has a law degree from Seton Hall University and a Masters Degree in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University. Roughneen has served for ten years as an Assistant Prosecutor in Union and Essex Counties.
Tom Roughneen also made a guest appearance on "The Mark Levin Show" today. Go to www.marklevinshow.com to hear about his candidacy.
