Rothman endorses Shulman

Democratic U.S. Rep. Steve Rothman endorsed Dennis Shulman for Congress today.

"After meeting with Dennis and hearing about him from people throughout
Northern New Jersey, I am convinced that he will make an excellent Member of ongress, " said Rothman in a statement.

Shulman, a blind rabbi/psychologist, is vying for the Democratic nomination against Camille Abate to take on Republican Scott Garrett in the fifth congressional district, which borders Rothman’s.

Shulman already has the support of the Bergen County Democratic Organization, the Teamsters, newly-sworn in New York Gov. David Paterson and former presidential candidate/General Wesley Clark. Abate, for her part, is backed by Passaic County Sheriff Jerry Speziale as well as a host of local labor groups.

Shulman

Besides Rothman's endorsement, Wesley Clark's endorsement speaks very well for Shulman in his primary fight; he seems to have the upper hand over Abate at this point.

You Are Irrelevant - III

If you take into consideration that they are competing to be the Democrat nominee against Scott Garrett, then here is how a more realistic article would have been written:

Rothman Endorses Irrelevant by Matt Friedman

Congressman Steve Rothman endorsed Irrelevant today.

"After meeting with Irrelevant and hearing about Irrelevant from people throughout Northern New Jersey, I am convinced that Irrelevant will make an excellent candidate, " said Rothman in a prepared statement.

Irrelevant is vying for the Irrelevant nomination against Irrelevant to take on Republican Scott Garrett in the fifth congressional district.

Irrelevant already has the support of former presidential candidate Weasely Clark.

Shulman will lose

Even though Shulman might be well-liked by local Democrats, there is no way he'll come close to scott Garrett.  the DCCC won't even touch the 5th.  We saw it with Wolfe, Ahronson, etc.  If the democrats want a chance, they need a big shot with big money running for the seat.  Somebody as rich as a Corzine and as charismatic as an Obama.  its a shame that gerrymandering made the district virtually unwinnable even by a moderate republican.
