Roland Straten, Republican candidate for Congress from New Jersey's Eighth District will resume his cross district trek today Thursday, September 4th at 10:30 am in Wayne on Hamburg Turnpike. Straten will take his "Roland Rollin On To Congress" tour across the entire Eighth District ending in South Orange by Election Day. "The response has been great," says Straten. "There is no better way to address people's concerns than to hear from them first hand"
Joining Straten on this leg today will be New Jersey State Assemblymen Scott Rumana, the former Mayor of Wayne.
The whole trip will take Straten through Essex and Passaic Counties and many of the district's twenty one municipalities. Straten's trademark "Roland Rollin On To Congress" truck pulled billboard will again be making the journey. "Keep an eye out for us, " says Straten. "We want to hear from all of you".
Straten, a self described fiscal conservative, is running on a platform of reducing our dependence on foreign oil, lower taxes and school choice. "Washington needs actual problem solvers, not more career politicians whose main concern is getting re-elected," said Straten.
Roland Straten is a native of Wayne and a 39-year resident of Montclair. Straten served as a Naval Officer in the Vietnam War and was President of Associated Fire Protection in Paterson before deciding he wanted to serve the
people of the Eighth District in Congress. Straten has served as chair of the Paterson Economic Development Corporation and as a Commissioner on the New Jersey Fire Commission.
