STRATEN KICKS OFF "ROLAND ROLLIN ON TO CONGRESS" CROSS DISTRICT TREK
Roland Straten, Republican candidate for Congress from New Jersey's Eighth District will kick off a cross district trek Thursday, August 28th at 10:30 am. Straten will start his "Roland Rollin On To Congress" tour in the northern most part of the district in Pompton Lakes and plans on walking across the entire Eighth District ending in South Orange by election day. "It will be a great way to hear from the community in person and discuss the challenges that we face as a district and as a country," says Straten.
The trip will take Straten through Essex and Passaic Counties and many of the district's twenty one municipalities. Straten's trademark "Roland Rollin On To Congress" truck pulled billboard will be making the journey as well. "We will be hard to miss," says Straten. "Come on out and join us."
Straten, a self described fiscal conservative, is running on a platform of reducing our dependence on foreign oil, lower taxes and school choice. "New Jersey citizens are the highest taxed in the country and pay some of the highest costs for energy, education and health care," said Straten. "Re-electing the same people to Washington who are responsible for this mess year after year is insanity. My opponent has been part of the problem for twelve years, I will be a problem solver," says Straten.
Roland Straten is a native of Wayne and a 39-year resident of Montclair. Straten served as a Naval Officer in the Vietnam War and was President of Associated Fire Protection in Paterson before deciding he wanted to serve the people of the Eighth District in Congress. Straten has served as chair of the Paterson Economic Development Corporation and as a Commissioner on the New Jersey Fire Commission.
