the Republican tableau
This sketchpad constitutes one of the more clever pieces Tornoe has done, and it certainly seems to catch some of the narratives and subnarratives surrounding the Republican convention. I would only add the word "Radical" to "Right Wing" for McCain's weight, of course. And the image of Obama is telling, as this campaign, at least from the Republican side, often becomes nothing more than lame chest-beating machismo on the part of McCain.
What's missing from the cartoon, and tellingly so, are any substantive issues, including our current economic recession; and this is because only generalized platitudes were referred to by the Republicans at their convention. At least we know that Palin was a hockey mom, though!
