Mahwah, NJ – Oct 11, 2009
In the Oct 10th edition of the Bergen Record, County Executive Dennis McNerney called for the resignation of Superintendent Robert Aloia, head of the Technical and Special Services school districts. McNerney’s action follows the lead of Councilman Rob Hermansen, Republican Freeholder candidate, who had previously called for corrective measures as early as August 2009.
Under Aloia’s leadership, the Superintendent and staff spent in excess of $888,000 of taxpayer dollars on numerous questionable expenses such as dinners at Morton’s Steakhouse, personal use of county vehicles and trips to China at taxpayer expense. Hermansen reiterated his call for Aloia’s resignation at the October 7th Bergen County Freeholder Board meeting.
Hermansen has been critical of the Freeholder Board as well as McNerney for their lack of oversight with taxpayer dollars, “Finally our County Executive is acting on what we called for back in August. Why did this take so long? Where was the oversight when Bergen County employees were clearly misusing taxpayer funds and continued to do so even after I brought the matter to the Freeholder’s attention? Yet again taxpayers are footing the bill while our Freeholder Board and County Executive have been asleep at the wheel,” said Hermansen.
Hermansen is running for Bergen County Freeholder to return responsible government to Bergen County. For additional information, go to www.robhermansen4freeholder.com
