ROBERTS RENEWS VOW TO FIX AFFORDABLE HOUSING SYSTEM IN WAKE OF PUBLIC ADVOCATE'S REPORT

(TRENTON) - Assembly Speaker Joseph J. Roberts Jr., today issued the following statement regarding the state Public Advocate's report on New Jersey's mounting affordable housing challenge:

"This report should help the push for comprehensive affordable housing reform in New Jersey.

"I welcome the Public Advocate's recommendations and we may even need to go beyond them through further refinements in the affordable housing reform legislation that I am now putting the finishing touches on.

"New Jersey needs a housing policy that will stop the exodus of residents who are moving to other states because of high housing costs and a state regulatory system that impedes the ability of our residents to live where they work."
